Why does the installation of Connect take so long?
Applies to V02.00.00 and later.
Connect currently ships with lots of data for each supported drive type (e.g. Unidrive M200, 201, 300, 400, 600, 700, 701, 702) and with each one of these types we also have to include data relating to lots of different firmware versions - full parameter data and advanced reference guide information. All this amounts to quite a bit of data and lots of files!
We realise the current speed of the installer isn't ideal and we are working to optimise the amount of data we ship to reduce the size (and speed up) the installer without compromising the number of drives and firmware versions we support.
Update: As of V2.0.2 of Connect the amount of data installed has been reduced (rather than including a parameter reference guide for every single firmware version of every single supported drive, only the latest is included). This has resulted in quicker installation/upgrade times even though the number of supported drive types has increased to include the Powerdrive and HVAC/R range.
